book for big data with scala

Jim Newton
When I search on amazon for its recommendation for Big Data in Scala, it recommends this one:

https://www.amazon.fr/Learning-Spark-Lightning-Fast-Data-Analysis-ebook/dp/B00SW0TY8O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477999595&sr=8-1&keywords=big+data+scala

Does anyone agree or disagree?
There is of course a Coursera course on Scala Big Data, but its date has not yet been announced.

I'd recommend bits and pieces of 3 different Spark books:

- Learning Spark: Lightning-Fast Big Data Analysis (covers the basics)
- Spark in Action (a bit more up-to-date and in-depth than the first)
- Advanced Analytics with Spark: Patterns for Learning from Data at Scale (for a good example of many analytics applications you can build with Spark)

(The Coursera course is in progress, we're hoping only a few more weeks till it's ready to go...)

I'm working on a video course for O'Reilly called Just Enough Scala for Spark, due out soon. I have this open-source version of it:

Hi Heather,   thanks for the info.  So you're on the team working on the Coursera course.  I can imagine
that is pretty tough work, getting all the small details worked out for such a course.   Best wishes
for success.   I'm already signed up for the session when it appears.

Hi Heather, congratulations on getting the Coursera course out the door.
The material looks really interesting.

BTW, I really like your approach at instruction. Your presentation style is very easy to follow.
The manner in which you present a synthesis, first, then proceed with examples, the way
you use contrast between two opposing ideas, and the way you seem to summarize afterward.
From a pedagogical point of view, it seems very effect to me.

I'm looking forward to the course, at it progresses.
Jim
